Caruso Born in Formia, Italy to a family of music lovers and amateur musicians, Gianni's musical skills were naturally encouraged. At the age of 11, he experienced the live sound of a saxophone, a perception and an emotion he will later describe as: " a pervasive light beam which by way of intuition, unfolded to me the power of sound ". A few weeks later, he began to study the saxophone.At the age of 13, after his first experiences, in a traditional Italian "banda", Gianni discovered the be-bop language listening to a vinyl of Charlie Parker and Dizzie Gillespie, suggested by his first teacher Carmine Saveriano. By then, Jazz becomes an irreversible love accompanying his journey in music. Those are also the years approaching music composition, where Gianni creates and shapes the first melodies and experiments with chord progressions and simple polyphonic lines. At the age of 15, he begins Classical studies of saxophone at the Conservatory of Music in Latina, at the same time deepening the study of jazz with his teacher Mauro Zazzarini. The Conservatorium would grant him two scholarships for artistic merits and five years later he graduates with the best honors. During his time at the Conservatory of Music in Latina, Gianni played in various professional jazz groups, Big Bands and R&B bands. He also studied jazz composition and improvisation with Americans Bob Mover and Agostino Di Giorgio. While attending numerous seminars and workshops by the likes of Accademia Romana di Jazz with Fabrizio Sferra, Danilo Rea, Giovanni Tommaso and Maurizio Gianmarco, he participates at the International Seminars Arts Academy Istituzione Sinfonica di Roma. There, at the age of 18, he plays with the Plovdiv Philharmonic Orchestra in a concert for and with one of the most influential Italian composers of the twentieth century, Goffredo Petrassi.In 1992, he started his first jazz quartet as a leader, the Railway Station Jazz followed by the Afro Jazz Quartet. With Afro Jazz Quartet, Gianni won the International Competition Baronissi Jazz, participating in the New Talent Category. A few years later he earned a 2nd place award for his performance with the Orchestra Jazz a Majella (JAM) in the Professional Category.In 1999 he enrolled at the Conservatorium of Music in Naples, to perfect the studies of Jazz Composition, Big Band Arrangement and Jazz Improvisation. The 3 years course is conducted by Bruno Tommaso, a crucial figure for his future choices in music: "When I moved from Naples, I realized that Bruno Tommaso have been much more than a great music teacher, he was my first step in discovering the importance of consciousness while working with music. It was startling to discover some years later, that for me music became the medium towards a more expanded awakening". Gianni graduates in Jazz Music with top honors. The years spent in Naples are characterized by major collaborations with prominent Italian musicians such as Bruno Tommaso , Maria Pia De Vito, Pietro Condorelli, Pippo Matino, Aldo Bassi, Agostino Di Giorgio, David Boato, Francesco e Pierluigi Villani, Mimmo Napolitano, Daniele Esposito, Giampiero Virtuoso, Alberto DAnna, Salvatore Tranchini, Pino Iodice, Pietro Iodice, Vittorio Pepe.In December 2000 he starts a project based on originals, Gianni Bardaro Sinestetic Jazz. He is soon inspired by the Synaesthesia phenomenon and writes the jazz ballad Song for Dicembre. The song is early published and distributed in Europe by the Philips Expanium with an edition of 20.000 copies. With Sinestetic Jazz he stretches out his skills as arranger and composer and focuses to develop an own sound on the saxophone:"At that time, more than ever, I felt the need to have my own sound and phrasing". The next year Gianni obtains a major grant by the Young Italian Artists Association and he is admitted to attend 1 year at the Rytmisk Musikkonservatorium of Copenhagen, improving further studies in Composition and Jazz Improvisation. In this Conservatorium, he studies under the guidance of acclaimed Danish musicians like Lars Møller, Jesper Bodilsen, Morten Lund, Niels Thybo, Christina Von Bülow, Thomas Agergaar, Birthe Skou and attends seminars with musicians of international importance like Cesar Lopez and Alvaro Collado, members of bands such as Irakere and Los Van Van, Andres Alen, Emilio Morales, Jorge Reyes, Luis Valdes Chicoy Martha Duarte, Francisco Padron, Girardo Piloto, Luis Abreu Hernandez, Cesar (Pupy) Pedroso Alexander Abreu Manresa, Enrique Pla, Luis "Luisito" Abreu. In Copenhagen, Gianni experiences the encounter and collaboration with musicians from different cultural backgrounds, resulting in an uncontrolable input pushing him to explore, combine and merge many different musical landscapes. This would prove to be an experience that would naturally expand his eclecticism: "After a period of a total blackout I suddenly had an explosion of creativity. Especially as a composer I began to develop the idea of merging frames of different music genres and styles that could shortly appear here and there along the composition but still trapped in a modern jazz texture. It was my own way to go over the fusion idea and to propose a different approach whose effect aimed to incite a mixture of sensory inputs that could eventually generate a multitude of emotional states".Although Gianni focuses on jazz, during the Scandinavian period he intensifies and expands the horizons of his eclectic activity through to Pop music, Latin, Electronic music and Techno. As a composer and songwriter, he collaborates with several record labels, among them the Warner Bros Italy Chappell. Also, he played for the Danish Royal Family and in the Danish public television channel DR2.From 2004 to 2006, Giannis participated as a leader in several well known jazz festivals. Among them the Copenhagen International Jazz Festival, Aarhus International Jazz Festival, Nova Festival. The improved experimentation with electronic music leads Gianni to some important collaborations such as with the English label 32bit Records which released the EP Scandango and with Modern Activism Records by Culturaelettronica which publishes the EP ElectrOneBar and a commission to mix with his talents one of the fathers of electronic music, Kirk Degiorgio.After several years of development, the open and traveling project: Gianni Bardaro Sinestetic Jazz, receives international recognition with the publication of the CD "Overflow" under the Danish label Gateway Music. The album receives prompt acclaim from experts who emphasize the originality of Gianni compositions, the tight bands interplay and the singularity of his approach on saxophone. Overflow is broadcasted on many radio stations around the world and it was featured for one month it on all Hawaiian Airlines flights directed to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Las Vegas and Sydney, on the Midnight Jazz Café 's Show on Hawaiian Public Radio. 2008 is a continuous crescendo and very significant year. The positive feedback from OVERFLOW takes Gianni to participate in international jazz festivals and major events. He is invited to participate as special guest from Denmark at the Balticness Project founded and promoted by the Community of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia. With this project, he has the opportunity to play with the Riga Groove Electro at Copenhagen JazzHouse and later on at the Opera House in Riga playing for the presence of the Prime Ministers of the Baltic Countries and together with jazz performers among the most acclaimed in the Baltics such as Neff Irizarry, Villu Veski, Deniss Pashkevich, Sofia Rubina, Jukka Eskola, Sebastian Studnitzky, Seth Sharp, Liudas Mockunas, Erling Wicklund, Jan Freicher, David Goloshekin, and Karl-Martin Almqvist. A live concert recorded during the Italian tour with Sinestetic Jazz was broadcasted by the Italian Public channel RAI Radio 3, in the program Jazz Suite. The CD Overflow was also released by Jazzengine in Italy and distributed in attached with the magazine Jazzit. In September he participated as a leader at the international jazz festivals in Colombia and Panama, sharing the stage with artists such as Ron Carter, Mike Stern, Arturo Sandoval, Toquinho, Jeff "Tain" Watts, Chano Dominguez, Erik Truffaz, Samuel Torres, John Benitez. As confirmed by the official statistics of the festivals, Gianni´s concerts were attended by an overall attendance of about 17.000 people. A month later, he was invited once again by the CBSS to perform at the 10th anniversary of CBSS - Council of the Baltic Sea States in Stockholm. In some of those live performances and not for the first time, Gianni experienced "altered states of consciousness" while he was improvising: "It was like an unexpected take-off from physical matter to an expanded awareness, where no time and no space is perceived". This is a strong and surprising experience which will crumble his belief system and take him into meditative practices. The personal realization that the sound and the creativeact was a channeling through him and his instrument, takes Gianni to shift all his inspirational sources and consequently the focus of his last productions:"If you really need to attach me a label, don´t consider me a jazz musician or whatever else; just consider me a Soundworker! I simply do my best to open the doors to the prismatic, powerful and unlimited possibilities of Sound".In 2009, beside keeping touring and collaborating with local projects, Gianni starts the cross-over project FINISDUO as co-leader with pianist and composer Mauro Patricelli. Soon the debut CD Phil Woods Sonata is published for the Gateway Music. It contains the revised and newly recorded 97 edition of the Alto Sax and Piano Sonata, a "classic" cross-over work by the jazz-legend Phil Woods and original compositions that are more than just the juxtaposition of two kinds of music. These peculiarities will bring FINISDUO on tour in South America and upcoming tours in Italy and Africa in 2010.Currently, Gianni just recorded his upcoming CD in New York City (featuring a Multi-Grammy Award winner together with the Colombian percussionist Samuel Torres). He is also involved working on several new projects such as the Ø Sound Project with Felibe Bari, The Blueprint and the EWI 4000S Project. Dopo aver inizialmente vissuto l´esperienza bandistica, inizia ad esibirsi professionalmente e contemporaneamente approfondisce gli studi, sotto la guida del M° Carmine Saveriano grazie al quale, conosce il linguaggio bebop. A 15 anni intraprende gli studi classici ed approfondisce lo studio del jazz presso il Conservatorio O. Respighi di Latina sotto la guida del M° Mauro Zazzarini. Si diploma cinque anni piú tardi con il massimo dei voti. Numerose sono le esperienze professionali vissute in questi anni, suonando in formazioni di vario genere e stile. Studia e collabora con gli americani Bob Mover ed Agostino di Giorgio, frequenta numerosi seminari e workshops tra i quali il corso semestrale all Accademia Romana di Jazz con Fabrizio Sferra, Danilo Rea, Giovanni Tommaso e Maurizio Gianmarco, perfeziona la tecnica classica ai seminari estivi internazionali Arts Academy Istituzione Sinfonica di Roma, dove viene invitato a suonare con lOrchestra Filarmonica di Plovdiv in un concerto con e per Goffredo Petrassi. A 18 anni forma il suo primo quartetto Railway Station Jazz seguito dall´ Afro Jazz Quartet con il quale vince il Concorso Internazionale di Baronissi nella categoria Nuovi Talenti. Nell' edizione 2001, Partecipa allo stesso Concorso con l'Orchestra Jazz a Majella (J.a.M.), classificandosi al 2° posto nella categoria professionisti.Nell anno 1999, tiene un audizione al Conservatorio San Pietro a Majella di Napoli con il contrabbassista milanese Attilio Zanchi, il quale lo seleziona per il nuovo corso di musica Jazz. Nei tre anni a seguire, il corso é diretto dal M°. Bruno Tommaso, una figura determinante per la sua formazione futura. Si diploma in musica Jazz nel 2001, ancora una volta con il massimo dei voti. Il periodo partenopeo é caratterizzato da importanti collaborazioni con musicisti di rilievo come lo stesso Bruno Tommaso, Maria Pia De Vito, Pietro Condorelli, Pippo Matino, Aldo Bassi, Agostino Di Giorgio, David Boato, Francesco e Pierluigi Villani, Mimmo Napolitano, Daniele Esposito, Giampiero Virtuoso, Alberto DAnna, Salvatore Tranchini, Pino Iodice, Pietro Iodice, Vittorio Pepe e molti altri. Nel 2001 crea ed avvia il progetto Gianni Bardaro Sinestetic Jazz. Pochi mesi piú tardi la ballad Song for Dicembre, scritta per tale progetto, viene pubblicata e distribuita in tutta Europa dalla Philips Expanium con 20.000 copie. Nello stesso anno ottiene un´importante borsa di studio dallAssociazione Giovani Artisti Italiani e poco piú tardi viene ammesso al Rytmisk Musikkonservatorium di Copenhagen dove frequenterá un master di circa un anno, perfezionando ulteriormente gli studi in composizione ed improvvisazione jazz. In questo prestigioso Conservatorio, studia sotto la guida di alcuni dei migliori musicisti danesi come Lars Møller, Jasper Bodilsen, Morten Lund, Niels Thybo, Christina Von Bülow, Thomas Agergaar, Birthe Skou e frequenta seminari con numerosi musicisti di rilievo internazionale tra i quali i cubani Cesar Lopez e Alvaro Collado, membri di leggendarie formazioni latine quali Irakere e Los Van Van, Andres Alen, Emilio Morales, Jorge Reyes, Luis Valdes Chicoy, Martha Duarte, Francisco Padron, Girardo Piloto, Luis Abreu Hernandez, Cesar (Pupy) Pedroso, Alexander Abreu Manresa, Enrique Plá, Luis Luisito Abreu. Nel 2002 si stabilisce definitivamente nella cittá di Copenhagen, dando inizio al fortunato e proficuo periodo scandinavo, durante il quale intensifica ed espande ecletticamente la sua attivitá. Come autore collabora con diverse etichette discografiche tra le quali la Warner Bros Italy Chappel, nel 2003 suona per la Famiglia Reale danese e partecipa come sassofonista al canale televisivo pubblico DR2. Dal 2004 al 2006 collabora con molte formazioni locali e come leader partecipa in numerosi festival tra i quali il Copenhagen International Jazz Festival, Aahrus International Jazz Festival, Nova Festival. Parallelamente inizia un periodo di sperimentazione con l´elettronica che apre i suoi orizzonti compositivi e che sfocia in alcune importanti collaborazioni: l´etichetta londinese 32bit Records pubblica l´EP Scandango in tre differenti versioni; la Modern Activism Records di Culturaelettronica, pubblica l´EP Electric One Bar e commissiona il mix ad uno dei padri dell´elettronica, il londinese Kirk Degiorgio.Nellanno 2007, il progetto Gianni Bardaro Sinestetic Jazz ottiene finalmente un riconoscimento internazionale con la pubblicazione del CD di debutto "Overflow" con l´etichetta danese Gateway Music. L´album riceve un immediato consenso destando linteresse del pubblico, della critica e dei media che sottolineano loriginalitá del suo stile compositivo e dell´ approccio sassofonistico. Numerose le partecipazioni come leader in festival internazionali cosí come le richieste di diffusione radiofónica. Overflow viene trasmesso per un mese intero dal canale Midnite Jazz Café, dell Hawaii Public Radio su tutti i voli dell Hawaiian Airlines diretti a Los Angeles, San Fransisco, Seattle, Las Vegas e Sydney in Australia. Diffusione radiofonica anche su RAI Radio 3 nel programma Jazz Suite del concerto live registrato durante il tour italiano. Nel 2008 il CD Overflow viene pubblicato in Italia dalla Jazzengine e distribuito in allegato con la rivista Jazzit. Nello stesso anno partecipa, come ospite d´onore rappresentando la Danimarca, al Progetto Balticness fondato e promosso dalla Comunità dei Paesi Baltici (CBSS) e dal Ministero degli Esteri della Repubblica di Latvia. Con questo Progetto, ha l´opportunitá di presentarsi al Copenhagen JazzHouse e di suonare all´Opera House di Riga alla presenza dei Primi ministri dei Paesi Baltici. A Settembre dello stesso anno Bardaro partecipa come leader nei festival internazionali jazz della Colombia e Panamá, condividendo il palco con artisti come Ron Carter, Mike Stern, Arturo Sandoval, Toquinho, Jeff Tain Watts, Chano Dominguez, Erik Truffaz, Samuel Torres, John Benitez. Nace en una familia de apasionados y aficionados por la música en Formia, una localidad italiana de la provincia de Latina. Gianni avanza de manera natural en sus habilidades musicales. A la edad de 11 años experimenta el sonido en vivo de un saxofón, una percepción y emoción que más tarde describiría como: "un rayo de luz penetrante que a través de la intuición, desvela en mí el poder del sonido". Semanas más tarde inicia sus estudios de saxofón.A los 13 años luego de sus primeras experiencias en una de las tradicionales "bandas" italianas, Gianni descubre el lenguaje be-bop escuchando un vinilo de Charlie Parker y Dizzie Gillespie, sugerido por su primer profesor Carmine Saveriano. Para ese entonces, el Jazz se convierte en un "amor irreversible" que acompañara su viaje en la música. Esos mismos son los años en los que se acerca a la composición musical, creando y dando forma a las primeras melodías, experimentando progresiones de acordes y líneas polifónicas simples.Inicia sus estudios de saxofón clásico a la edad de 15 años en el Conservatorio de Música de Latina, al mismo tiempo que profundiza sus estudios de jazz con el profesor Mauro Zazzarini. En el conservatorio le son otorgadas dos becas por méritos artísticos y cinco años más tarde se gradúa con máximos honores.Durante esos años Gianni toca con diversos grupos profesionales de jazz, Big Bands y grupos R&B, estudia composición jazzística e improvisación con los Americanos Bob Mover y Agostino Di Giorgio. Además, asiste a numerosos seminarios y talleres por parte de la Academia Romana de Jazz con Fabrizio Sferra, Danilo Rea, Giovanni Tommaso y Maurizio Gianmarco, participa en los Seminarios Internacionales de la Arts Academy Istituzione Sinfonica di Roma donde a la edad de 18 años toca con la Orquesta Filarmónica Plovdiv en un concierto para y con uno de los compositores italianos más influyentes del siglo XX, Goffredo Petrassi.En el mismo año (1992) inicia su primer cuarteto de jazz como líder, "The Railway Station Jazz" seguido por el "Afro Jazz Quartet". Con éste último, Gianni gana el concurso internacional Jazz Baronissi, participando en la categoría Nuevo Talento. Algunos años más tarde recibirá el 2° lugar, participando con la Orquesta Jazz a Majella (JAM) en la categoría Profesional.En 1999 se matricula en el Conservatorio de Música de Nápoles, para perfeccionar sus estudios de composición e improvisación jazzística y arreglos para Big Band. El curso de 3 años es dirigido por Bruno Tommaso, una figura crucial de sus decisiones futuras en la música: " Cuando me mude de Nápoles, me di cuenta de que Bruno Tommaso había sido mucho más que un gran profesor de música, él fue mi primer paso en el descubrimiento de la importancia del ser consciente durante el trabajo musical. Fue sorprendente descubrir algunos años más tarde, que para mí la música se convirtió en el medio hacia un más extenso despertar ". Una vez más Gianni se laurea con máximos honores en sus estudios de Jazz.Los años vividos en Nápoles se caracterizan por importantes colaboraciones con importantes músicos italianos tales como: Bruno Tommaso , Maria Pia De Vito, Pietro Condorelli, Pippo Matino, Aldo Bassi, Agostino Di Giorgio, David Boato, Francesco e Pierluigi Villani, Mimmo Napolitano, Daniele Esposito, Giampiero Virtuoso, Alberto DAnna, Salvatore Tranchini, Pino Iodice, Pietro Iodice, Vittorio Pepe.En diciembre de 2000 comienza un proyecto basado en temas originales; Gianni Bardaro Sinestetic Jazz. Muy pronto es inspirado por el fenómeno de la sinestesia, escribiendo así la balada de jazz Song for Dicembre. El tema viene publicado adelantadamente para luego ser distribuido en Europa por la Philips Expanium con una edición de 20.000 ejemplares. Con Sinestetic Jazz, Gianni expande sus habilidades como arreglista y compositor y se enfoca en desarrollar un sonido propio en el saxofón. "En ese momento, más que nunca, sentí la necesidad de tener mi propio sonido y fraseo".En el siguiente año Gianni obtiene una beca de la Asociación de Jóvenes Artistas Italianos para luego ser admitido por un año al Rytmisk Musikkonservatorium de Copenhague donde realiza un perfeccionamiento de sus estudios en composición e improvisación jazzística. En Copenhague, Gianni vive experiencias en diferentes encuentros y colaboraciones con músicos de otros orígenes culturales, dando lugar a una puerta incontenible que se abre y que lo anima a explorar, combinar y articular diferentes paisajes musicales. Una experiencia, que naturalmente, expandirá su eclecticismo: "Después de un periodo de un apagón total, de repente tuve una explosión de creatividad. Especialmente como compositor, empecé a desarrollar la idea de ensamblar marcos de diferentes géneros y estilos musicales, que en breve podrían aparecer aquí y allá a lo largo de la composición, pero que aún siguen atrapados en una textura de jazz moderno. Ese fue mi propio camino para sobrepasar la idea del fusión y proponer un enfoque diferente cuyo efecto planteaba incitar a una mezcla de estímulos sensoriales que eventualmente podrían generar un sinfín de estados emocionales".Aunque Gianni se centra en el jazz, durante el periodo escandinavo se intensifica y expanden los horizontes de su actividad ecléctica, desde la música Pop a la música Latina, desde la música Electrónica al Techno. Como compositor y songwriter, colabora con varias casas discográficas entre ellas la Warner Bros Italy Chappell. Además, toca para la familia Real de Dinamarca y en el canal público de la televisión danesa DR2. Del 2004 al 2006 muchas son las colaboraciones con bandas locales, participa también como líder en diversos festivales de jazz entre ellos el Festival Internacional de Jazz de Copenhague, Festival Internacional de Aarhus, Nova Festival.El progreso en la experimentación con la música electrónica, conduce a Gianni a algunas importantes colaboraciones tales como son las de la etiqueta inglesa 32bit Records que publica el sencillo Scandango y con Modern Activism Records por Culturaelettronica la cual divulga el sencillo ElectrOneBar y comisiona la mezcla a uno de los precursores de la música electrónica , Kirk Degiorgio.La versatilidad y apertura del proyecto Gianni Bardaro Sinestetic Jazz, después de varios años de ascenso, recibe reconocimiento internacional con la publicación del CD Overflow, bajo el sello discográfico Danés Gateway Music. El álbum, recibe una fuerte aclamación por expertos que hacen hincapié en la originalidad de las composiciones de Gianni, la estrecha interacción de la banda y la particularidad en el enfoque tocando el saxofón. Overflow se transmite en diversas radios de todo el mundo y por un mes se presenta en todos los vuelos directos de la aerolínea Hawaiian Airlines que se dirigen a Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Las Vegas and Sydney, por el canal Midnight Jazz Café 's Hawaii Public Radio.El 2008 es un año muy significativo; un año en continuo ascenso: la reacción positiva lleva a Gianni a participar en diferentes festivales internacionales y grandes eventos; es invitado a participar como invitado especial de Dinamarca en el Balticness Project, fundado y promovido por la Comunidad de Estados del Mar Báltico (CBSS) y el Ministerio de Asuntos del Exterior de la Republica de Letonia. Con éste proyecto Gianni tiene la oportunidad de tocar con la banda Riga Groove Electro en el Copenhagen JazzHouse y más tarde en la Casa de la Opera en Riga, tocando en la presencia de los Primeros Ministros de los países Bálticos, junto a los más aclamados interpretes de jazz en el Báltico como por ejemplo: Neff Irizzarry, Villu Veski, Deniss Pashkevich, Sofia Rubina, Jukka Eskola, Sebastian Studnitzky, Seth Sharp, Liudas Mockunas, Erling Wicklund, Jan Freicher, David Goloshekin, Karl-Martin Almqvist.Durante la gira italiana con Sinestetic Jazz, uno de sus conciertos grabado en directo se emite por el canal público italiano RAI Radio 3, en el programa Jazz Suite. El CD Overflow es también publicado en Italia por Jazzengine distribuido junto a la revista Jazzit. En septiembre, participa como líder en festivales internacionales de jazz en Colombia y Panamá, compartiendo escenarios con artista de la talla de Ron Carter, Mike Stern, Arturo Sandoval, Toquinho, Jeff "Tain" Watts, Chano Dominguez, Erik Truffaz, Samuel Torres, John Benitez. Según lo confirmado por las estadísticas oficiales de los festivales, los conciertos de Gianni son atendidos por un total de aproximadamente 17,000 personas. Un mes más tarde es invitado a actuar en el 10 º aniversario de CBSS - Consejo de los Estados del Mar Báltico en Estocolmo.Durante algunas actuaciones en vivo y no por primera vez, Gianni experimenta durante sus improvisaciones estados alterados de conciencia: "Fue como un inesperado despegar de la materia física a un estado de conciencia más elevada, donde no se percibe ni tiempo ni espacio". Es una marcada y sorprendente experiencia que derrumbará sus sistemas de creencias, conduciéndolo a prácticas de meditación. La comprensión de que el sonido y el acto creativo son un instrumento de canalización, lo llevan a cambiar sus fuentes de inspiración y por consiguiente el reflejo de ello esta en sus últimas producciones. "Si realmente es necesario que me coloquen etiquetas entonces no me considere un músico de jazz o cualquier otra cosa, considéreme solo un trabajador del sonido!, yo simplemente hago mi mejor esfuerzo para abrir las puertas a las ilimitadas y poderosas posibilidades del sonido". En el 2009 aparte de encontrarse en giras y colaboraciones con proyectos locales, Gianni inicia el proyecto cross-over FINISDUO como colíder con el pianista y compositor Mauro Patricelli. Al poco tiempo el CD debut de Phil Woods Sonata es publicado por Gateway Music. El CD contiene una versión actualizada y recién grabada edición del Sax Alto y Piano Sonata del año '97, un "clásico" cross-over por la leyenda de jazz, Phil Wood, así mismo contiene los temas originales que son algo más que la yuxtaposición de dos tipos de música. Nace en una familia de apasionados y aficionados por la música en Formia, una localidad italiana de la provincia de Latina. Gianni avanza de manera natural en sus habilidades musicales. A la edad de 11 años experimenta el sonido en vivo de un saxofón, una percepción y emoción que más tarde describiría como: "un rayo de luz penetrante que a través de la intuición, desvela en mí el poder del sonido". Semanas más tarde inicia sus estudios de saxofón.
A los 13 años luego de sus primeras experiencias en una de las tradicionales "bandas" italianas, Gianni descubre el lenguaje be-bop escuchando un vinilo de Charlie Parker y Dizzie Gillespie, sugerido por su primer profesor Carmine Saveriano. Para ese entonces, el Jazz se convierte en un "amor irreversible" que acompañara su viaje en la música. Esos mismos son los años en los que se acerca a la composición musical, creando y dando forma a las primeras melodías, experimentando progresiones de acordes y líneas polifónicas simples.
Inicia sus estudios de saxofón clásico a la edad de 15 años en el Conservatorio de Música de Latina, al mismo tiempo que profundiza sus estudios de jazz con el profesor Mauro Zazzarini. En el conservatorio le son otorgadas dos becas por méritos artísticos y cinco años más tarde se gradúa con máximos honores.
Durante esos años Gianni toca con diversos grupos profesionales de jazz, Big Bands y grupos R&B, estudia composición jazzística e improvisación con los Americanos Bob Mover y Agostino Di Giorgio. Además, asiste a numerosos seminarios y talleres por parte de la Academia Romana de Jazz con Fabrizio Sferra, Danilo Rea, Giovanni Tommaso y Maurizio Gianmarco, participa en los Seminarios Internacionales de la Arts Academy Istituzione Sinfonica di Roma donde a la edad de 18 años toca con la Orquesta Filarmónica Plovdiv en un concierto para y con uno de los compositores italianos más influyentes del siglo XX, Goffredo Petrassi.
En el mismo año (1992) inicia su primer cuarteto de jazz como líder, "The Railway Station Jazz" seguido por el "Afro Jazz Quartet". Con éste último, Gianni gana el concurso internacional Jazz Baronissi, participando en la categoría Nuevo Talento. Algunos años más tarde recibirá el 2° lugar, participando con la Orquesta Jazz a Majella (JAM) en la categoría Profesional.
En 1999 se matricula en el Conservatorio de Música de Nápoles, para perfeccionar sus estudios de composición e improvisación jazzística y arreglos para Big Band. El curso de 3 años es dirigido por Bruno Tommaso, una figura crucial de sus decisiones futuras en la música: " Cuando me mude de Nápoles, me di cuenta de que Bruno Tommaso había sido mucho más que un gran profesor de música, él fue mi primer paso en el descubrimiento de la importancia del ser consciente durante el trabajo musical. Fue sorprendente descubrir algunos años más tarde, que para mí la música se convirtió en el medio hacia un más extenso despertar ". Una vez más Gianni se laurea con máximos honores en sus estudios de Jazz.
Los años vividos en Nápoles se caracterizan por importantes colaboraciones con importantes músicos italianos tales como: Bruno Tommaso , Maria Pia De Vito, Pietro Condorelli, Pippo Matino, Aldo Bassi, Agostino Di Giorgio, David Boato, Francesco e Pierluigi Villani, Mimmo Napolitano, Daniele Esposito, Giampiero Virtuoso, Alberto DAnna, Salvatore Tranchini, Pino Iodice, Pietro Iodice, Vittorio Pepe.
En diciembre de 2000 comienza un proyecto basado en temas originales; Gianni Bardaro Sinestetic Jazz. Muy pronto es inspirado por el fenómeno de la sinestesia, escribiendo así la balada de jazz Song for Dicembre. El tema viene publicado adelantadamente para luego ser distribuido en Europa por la Philips Expanium con una edición de 20.000 ejemplares. Con Sinestetic Jazz, Gianni expande sus habilidades como arreglista y compositor y se enfoca en desarrollar un sonido propio en el saxofón. "En ese momento, más que nunca, sentí la necesidad de tener mi propio sonido y fraseo".
En el siguiente año Gianni obtiene una beca de la Asociación de Jóvenes Artistas Italianos para luego ser admitido por un año al Rytmisk Musikkonservatorium de Copenhague donde realiza un perfeccionamiento de sus estudios en composición e improvisación jazzística. Durante sus estudios en el conservatorio cuenta con la dirección de aclamados músicos daneses como Lars Møller, Jesper Bodilsen, Morten Lund, Niels Thybo, Christina Von Bülow, Thomas Agergaar, Birthe Skou asistiendo también a seminarios con músicos de nivel internacional como Cesar Lopez and Alvaro Collado, members of bands such as Irakere and Los Van Van, Andres Alen, Emilio Morales, Jorge Reyes, Luis Valdes Chicoy Martha Duarte, Francisco Padron, Girardo Piloto, Luis Abreu Hernandez, Cesar (Pupy) Pedroso Alexander Abreu Manresa, Enrique Pla, Luis "Luisito" Abreu.
En Copenhague, Gianni vive experiencias en diferentes encuentros y colaboraciones con músicos de otros orígenes culturales, dando lugar a una puerta incontenible que se abre y que lo anima a explorar, combinar y articular diferentes paisajes musicales. Una experiencia, que naturalmente, expandirá su eclecticismo: "Después de un periodo de un apagón total, de repente tuve una explosión de creatividad. Especialmente como compositor, empecé a desarrollar la idea de ensamblar marcos de diferentes géneros y estilos musicales, que en breve podrían aparecer aquí y allá a lo largo de la composición, pero que aún siguen atrapados en una textura de jazz moderno. Ese fue mi propio camino para sobrepasar la idea del fusión y proponer un enfoque diferente cuyo efecto planteaba incitar a una mezcla de estímulos sensoriales que eventualmente podrían generar un sinfín de estados emocionales".
Aunque Gianni se centra en el jazz, durante el periodo escandinavo se intensifica y expanden los horizontes de su actividad ecléctica, desde la música Pop a la música Latina, desde la música Electrónica al Techno. Como compositor y songwriter, colabora con varias casas discográficas entre ellas la Warner Bros Italy Chappell. Además, toca para la familia Real de Dinamarca y en el canal público de la televisión danesa DR2.
